Coping better with stress as a team: a retreat day featuring breathing exercises, gentle breathwork and sound
Most teams have long been aware that they need to take more breaks. What’s missing is a tool that really works in everyday life, when your inbox is overflowing or you’re facing another difficult conversation. That’s exactly what this day is all about: you’ll experience how your breathing influences your stress response, and practise a few techniques until you’ve got the hang of them.
I’m Eva, a breathwork therapist from Berlin. I’ve been working with breath for seven years, three of which were spent in a clinic. In total, that’s over 450 hours of one-to-one sessions and more than 80 group sessions; I was also part of a breathwork study with Humboldt University. I guide the session calmly and clearly, with humour and without pressure, and everyone decides for themselves how deeply they want to go.
After a brief introduction, the focus is almost entirely on practice: breathing exercises for focus and energy, a ‘breathing walk’, movement and shaking to release tension, and a group reflection. At the heart of the session is gentle Conscious Connected Breathwork whilst lying down, accompanied by music. For groups of up to 14 people, there’s a longer session known as a ‘Deep Dive’; for larger groups, I split the breathwork into three 20-minute sequences. This ensures the intensity remains appropriate, and I can keep a close eye on everyone. The session concludes with a sound journey.
Here’s what’s included:
• A preliminary video chat, after which I’ll put together the programme for you
• A brief health check beforehand, which I’ll keep strictly confidential
• Breathing tests at the start and end, so you can see what’s happening
• A handout and audio recordings for a 7-day breathing routine
• Co-facilitation for groups of 25 or more
The session is available as a full-day retreat (6.5 hours) or a half-day session (3.5 hours, without a breathwork session). No prior experience is required; everyday clothing is fine. If you are pregnant or have any health restrictions, gentle alternatives are available. The retreat is about prevention and training, not therapy.
Also available for private bookings: ceremonial sessions for birthdays and weddings. For sports teams, we offer breathing training based on the Oxygen Advantage method.
To help your team unwind, we need a room where we won’t be disturbed: no people walking through and no prying eyes from outside. Ideally, the tables should be moved to one side, as everyone needs space to stretch out on a mat (you’re welcome to use your own yoga mat). For 20 people, that’s about 80 m².
Please make sure there’s a mat, a blanket and, if desired, a cushion for everyone; normal chairs will do for the discussion sessions. It can get chilly quite quickly when breathing whilst lying down, so the room should be well-heated and well-ventilated. You’ll also need water, nearby toilets and a power socket for my music player. A flight of stairs and some greenery nearby are a bonus for a breathing walk.
On the retreat day, I recommend a light lunch. Are you short of space or mats? Feel free to get in touch: in Kreuzberg, I have spaces for up to 30 people available on request.
